Thoughts on Writing

Writing as an art is very subjective, many times I don’t have any idea what will I write about. My ideas are not clear, many times I don’t even have an idea, but it’s something on the keyboard that when I start typing the words start flowing, the rhythm sets itself, and the words I write start to make sense. The simple art of just writing what you think and how you feel in the moment gives those words meaning, depth, and sound, you like what you hear in your head and want to hear more of the melody. You still haven’t got it enough. Isn’t that how you feel when you read a good book? you don’t want it to end. The melody has taken over you. You want to know what happens next, what’s on the next page; how you will react. Each page you read changes you, each word has the power to affect your sub- conscience.

Fiction writing is more complex. Nonfiction has a pattern, research, write down the experience, polish it and publish it. Fiction, on the other hand, needs you to be in the moment, surfing through the turmoil that your character is going through. You can’t just decide to think like a man when describing the thoughts of a woman. It needs to have some depth. The psychology, the conflicts, and temperaments of the character as per the situation varies, you have epiphanies and sudden transitions in the character's life, and that is conveyed only through the words you write, the punctuations you choose, and the mood you write it in.

As an aspiring writer myself, I am trying to figure out the details myself, trying new theories and writing styles, the persona, and the narration. All come together, in a seemingly dull but enchantingly rapturing way. Depends on how you read though.

the art of learning or writing always has been subjective. It has been an evolutionary process. It is like communicating with future generations without talking. the poets and writers and even the great scientists are remembered because of what they wrote. It’s a written proof of what they discovered, how they thought, and what kind of world they lived in. what is written is chronicles of the ordinary into the extraordinary.

The writing process was much more common and obvious to people in the past. They wrote letters and sent them to all they love. The soldiers wrote about the wars and their lives away from home. The students wrote about their subjects and reading these versions of their realities from others' perspectives took the shape of fiction.

Another book that captured the daily activities of common lives we fondly know is the diary.

Dear diary,

“I saw the most beautiful girl today. She wore…”

“ The boss was in a crappie mood…”

One particular diary that made home in our hearts was the diary of Anne Frank. The most loved diary ever written. It narrates the lives of a  young girl Anne Frank and her family in the world war 2 periods. Thank god the world has changed a lot since.

Though it came with a major change of people writing a lot less often. With the rise of telephones, the letter culture died, with the face time, skype and zoom, meeting in person reduced. Soon we will also forget we texted once.

The blogs have turned in vlogs and the quest to fill the human mind in a computer to live forever doesn’t seem so far. But still, they’d take a lot of time to reach a stage to devise a machine that could hold the entire human brain at the press of a button and till then maybe only to pass the time, read a book.

And that’s exactly what books are, a piece of mind (see what I did there!). Years of someone’s experience and knowledge are compiled in pages that can be read in a few hours.

All the hero’s journeys go through a writer’s journey first. The community of writers is built on a community of readers and maybe together we can change the world. If not physically at least through our thoughts. Imagination gain conscientiousness leading to thoughts leading to action leading to movement… thus changing the world as we see it.

I hope you enjoyed this, you can always comment down your thoughts they help me better understand my readers and provide them better value. Thanks.

Ronny's Quandary

It had been a long day, Ronny has had it enough, and he was pissed off, depressed, and feeling alone. The past 2 years he spent preparing for the All India scientists league but he got knocked out by 3 points in the entrance exam. All the sleepless nights, the painstaking notes, and the hope of all his friends and juniors were shattered. The visuals of their disappointment tormented him through the night. He was frustrated. He didn’t know what to do, he knew it was not the end of his life nor that he was alone who fail in the entrance exam, many more brilliant colleagues couldn’t get through it, his coaches too condoled him, “cheer up son! 1 exam is never enough to evaluate a student and 1 setback doesn’t mean you didn’t deserve it.” Said coach Mike, one of the best guides to the exam, they both with many other students spent hours a day training and solving the most probable questions to be asked, as a teacher, he had faith in all of his students. Then came the selection p...

Offline Exams in Hostel days.

I spent 4 years living away in a hostel for my bachelors’ degree. I got this admission after a lot of struggles, and I didn’t want to waste this opportunity, so I started studying every waking second, I got. F rom the lazy careless kid, I had transformed into this scholar who eats drinks and sleeps his studies. I took the classes way too seriously, in my mind, I thought bachelor would definitely be tougher than JEE OR NEET, hence I can’t waste another moment. Full hustle mode. Only after my roommates showed me how to actually live like a hostelite, I calmed down and started to enjoy this new life. Somehow by the last moment, everything gets sorted out in a hostel. You get a senior’s notes, a friend teaches you or you stay up late to mug up the stuff and end up teasing and giggling throughout, but Something always gets done. We’d always sit in groups to study, wanting to meet at 9 we all gathered by 11.30. Of course, we had our reasons like washing clothes, cleaning the room, or late-...
